About me
I was raised and educated in Germany, South Africa and Ireland.
Professional career
After completing my studies at the University College Dublin with a B.Comm. and an M.B.S. (Marketing) I started my business career as product manager at AET, an Irish manufacturer of electrical appliances. I was soon promoted to export manager. In 1975, I returned to Germany and took a job as Marketing Officer in the Australian Trade Commissioner Service in Bonn.
In 1980, I moved to Hamburg and took a career break to look after my growing family. I also went back to University to study African languages and culture as well as archeology.
From 1982, I worked as a freelance writer for well known German newspapers, business magazines, trade journals, and book publications as well as for British trade publications.
From 1992 – 1998, I held the position of Director Marketing & PR at Port of Hamburg Marketing, the official promotion organization of the Hamburg port community.
In 1999, I moved to Switzerland to become editor in chief of an international trade magazine published in three languages. I re-launched the journal as ITJ Logistics Worldwide, introduced an electronic newsletter as well as an e-magazine. I succeeded in raising the company’s profile and expanding the international readership. In 2001, I was also appointed managing editor, director, and member of the supervisory board of Rittmann AG, the publisher of ITJ. In my ten years with the publishing group I was able to successfully extend and further develop my extensive contacts in the global transportation and logistics industry.
From October 2009 to 2012, I was a partner in Meneghin & Partner Unternehmensberatung AG, leading the business unit PR + Media Communication Services. I also supported my partners in other assignments and continued to work as a writer. I have organized and chaired numerous conference sessions and gave lectures on marketing and PR topics.
In 2012, I founded UFS MarCom, a boutique PR agency that has been going from strength to strength.
